Week 2 : Summer Ministry Recap
Throughout week 2 of our summer ministry, the Lord opened the doors wide for our young missionaries to carry the light of the Gospel into the heart of our local communities. Our Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA™) teams hit the pavement with bold faith, and we are overflowing with praise for how the Holy Spirit is moving across Central West Tennessee.
With a team of 9 volunteers pouring out their time and energy, we completed 22 sessions across 4 locations this week.
Look at how God moved in the hearts of the children we served:
- 129 children were reached with the clear, life-changing message of the Gospel!
- 19 precious boys and girls were prayed with individually, addressing various personal needs and heavy burdens.
- 7 children made professions of faith and trusted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior!
The Beautiful Sight of Lincoln Courts
The most powerful and unforgettable moments of Week 2 unfolded at Lincoln Courts apartments in East Jackson. Despite the heat and the fact that attendance was completely voluntary, the children eagerly made sure to attend every single day.
Our Director, Randy, caught a beautiful glimpse of the early church in action:
“God touched the hearts of several children, and one specific day, four young ladies responded to the Gospel and accepted Jesus as Savior. The next day, one of those young ladies brought her sister to hear about Jesus, and the sister also made a profession of faith. I smiled as this reminded me a lot of the story in John 1:42. Our God still calls others to come, and then they bring others to meet Jesus. It is a beautiful thing.”
Our summer intern, Autumn, noted how deeply the children respected the clubs:
“The kids made sure to attend each day! The girls even wore dresses one day and brought Bibles. A few of the kids gave their lives to Christ, and it was amazing to watch them be so amused with the stories of Jesus.”
For Caleb, the curiosity of the children left a lasting impact:
“Six to seven children came back for counseling and were saved. To me, it was beautiful getting to see these children get the opportunity to hear the Good News, as they seemed to have not been exposed to it before. The curiosity exhibited by some, like one girl and a boy who had many questions about Christianity and wanted to learn more, made for the most powerful moments for me.”
Preserving Salt and Illuminating Light
As our teams travel from neighborhood to neighborhood, we are constantly reminded that this work is an act of obedience to a high calling.
Eli captured the heart of our mission beautifully:
“Christ declared, ‘He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives.’ And as we obey His Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), in a sense, He uses us to do this. To be, through Christ in us, the preserving salt and illuminating light to children in a decaying and darkening world is a blessing that’s hard to describe.”
Partner with Us in Prayer
Every statistic from this week represents a child who now knows they are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe. Thank you for your continued prayers and financial partnership, our interns and the rest of our team to serve on the front lines of our community.
Please pray for the seeds planted at Lincoln Courts and our three other locations this week. Pray for the precious children who asked deep questions, that they will continue to seek the Lord, and that those who accepted Christ will grow strong in their faith!
